Spring has almost sprung although for those of us on the East Coast it doesn’t quite feel like it.
Spring is my favorite time of the year. It is about renewal. Wikipedia tells us that the word spring can not only refer to the season but “broadly to ideas of rebirth, renewal and regrowth”. That is what this Spring is about for Khaya and me. It’s been a tough year for Khaya. We’ve struggled with sales. We have lots and lots of competiton. Try and compete with Whole Foods 365 Brand or don’t we all love Oreo™, Cookies (yes, I admit I love them!). It is a tough market out there. But, this isn’t about cookies to me. This is about the renewal and rebirth that this Company I have built from scratch gives the women and men who I employ in South Africa. It is about the sense of renewal I feel every time we put a container on the water. It means that out there, I know someone cares about making a difference or as you have all heard me say many times over, “Creating Opportunity One Bite at a Time.” These are Khaya Cookies and they truly help Create Opportunity One Bite at a Time. Just ask Andiswa one of my very first workers. With the help of The Khaya Cookie Company she will graduate from Cape Technikon University on 14 April. This is an incredible accomplishment for a young girl who grew up in the townships of South Africa.
So what I say to you as we are coming upon this season of renewal and rebirth – thank you to each and every one of you for caring and buying Khaya Cookies. Even that one pack you purchased has truly helped Create Opportunity One Bite at a Time.
All my best,
And where can we get these amazing cookies back in SA!?
